FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What is a webinar?
It’s a seminar carried out over the Internet. Think web + seminar = webinar. You can view our previously recorded websites through a link to our online learning school. It’s a simple process to get up and running. You can view the presenter and their slides, as well as follow the questions the learners posed during the original webinar.
Do I need a webcam?
No. You will need speakers or a means to listen to the webinars which will be presented in English.
I’ve booked my place on a live webinar, but now I can’t make it. Will it be recorded?
We always intend to record the webinar, however, it’s not something that we guarantee. All being well we would anticipate the recording within 2 weeks of the live webinar. We will email you when that’s available.
I’ve been prompted to pay by Paypal/Stripe and create a Thinkific login….
Our webinars are now on our e-learning school www.linguistpd.thinkific.com. Stripe is a secure alternative to PayPal. Once you’ve created your login you will be able to access all your webinars in one place. These webinars are available for 90 days from the date of purchase for your personal use only and you can watch them as many times as you like for those 90 days. Keep your login details handy.
I can’t remember how to get to the Thinkific website…
Go to www.linguistpd.thinkific.com, and login using your email address and password. You will find your active courses on ‘My Dashboard’.
How many CPD points is your training worth?
Our online training counts as one structured CPD point per hour of training, so it varies depending on the length of the course.
Each course page on our website states how many CPD points the course is worth.
All courses and webinars are accompanied by further resources such as workbooks and references which you can also use to gain further unstructured points.
I am a US interpreter and I’d like to earn CEUs for a previously recorded webinar. What should I do?
Want to watch a webinar and claim CEUs? Please contact your local chapter of RID to receive instructions on how to proceed.
I’ve finished my webinar, what do I do next?
Once your progress reaches 100% you will be directed to a completion page. You will then go to the menu of your web browser(e.g. Google Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer) and choose print. On some computers you can also right click and the print option will be listed in a menu.
How to do it:
For most browsers, the print function is the fastest and most effective way to save your certificate as a PDF. DO NOT go for the logical choice of ‘save page as’ – this will only save your certificate in a web format and not as a PDF.
Chrome
- Click the three-dot icon in the top-right corner and choose ‘Print’ from the drop-down menu. Alternatively, press Ctrl + P (Command+P if on Mac).
- When the pop-up window appears, click the down arrow to the right of ‘Destination’ and select ‘Save As PDF’ in the drop-down menu and you’ll see a preview generated.
- Click the ‘Save’ button and select a destination to file your certificate.
- Click the ‘Save’ button to complete.
Microsoft Edge
- Click the three-dot icon in the top-right corner and choose ‘Print’ from the drop-down menu. Alternatively, press Ctrl + P
- When the pop-up window appears, click the down arrow displayed under ‘Printer’ and select either the ‘Save As PDF’ option or ‘Print to PDF’ option listed in the drop-down menu.
- Click the ‘Save’ or ‘Print’ button and select a destination to file your certificate.
- Click the ‘Save’ button to complete.
Safari
- Click ‘File’ on the menu bar and choose ‘Export as PDF’ on the drop-down menu.
- When the pop-up window appears, name your certificate and select where you want to save your certificate.
- Click the ‘Save’ button to complete.
Firefox for PC
- Click the three-dot icon in the top-right corner and choose ‘Print’ from the drop-down menu. Alternatively, press Ctrl + P.
- When the pop-up window appears, click the Print button in the top-left corner.
- Select ‘Microsoft Print to PDF’ from the printer options and click the ‘Print’ button when ready.
- Name your certificate and click the ‘Save’ button to complete.
