ABOUT ME
Maryna Hura MEd PGCE BSc (Hons) FBDO FHEA
I have worked for Boots Opticians for the past 22 years and qualified as a Dispensing Optician 17 years ago. I joined the Ophthalmic Dispensing team at Bradford College in 2008 and find my role as a lecturer very rewarding.
I completed my teaching qualification in 2013 and Masters in Education in 2018. Later, I achieved Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications in British Sign Language (BSL) and currently working towards a Level 3 certificate. In October 2025 I started a PhD programme at Loughborough University; the project is linked to exploring barriers and facilitators for BSL users in accessing essential services.
I have been a member of the GOC Education Visitor Panel (EVP) since 2018. I am also a member of the Huddersfield Deaf centre committee (Secretary) and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
