Exploring The Self – Interpreting Counselling & Psychotherapy Sessions

What you'll learn

If you already interpret, or are contemplating working in counselling/psychotherapy settings, this webinar will provide you with invaluable insight into both the theory and practicalities of this domain.

You will learn details of some of the counselling modalities your therapist may be using. This will give you some insight into the decisions they take in the therapy session. Discussion of these concepts will also give you space to reflect on your own suitability to work in this domain. What are your personal values? How might they impact on the interpreted session?

You’ll be given tips and resources to help you prepare for psychotherapy bookings. You will also learn about practical considerations within the therapy room itself.

Daniel is a qualified sign language interpreter with a wealth of experience in mental health interpreting.

He began training as a counsellor in 2015 and is currently (2021) in his final year of training as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist. He has been working with clients for the past two years.

Learning Outcomes:

• An opportunity for personal reflection on our readiness for working in counselling and psychotherapy.
• An understanding of different modalities including – CBT, Humanistic and Psychoanalytic/Psychodynamic
• An awareness of how to prepare to interpret a therapy session
• Knowledge of the practicalities of interpreting in counselling and psychotherapy.

(2 hours+)

Completion of this course will give you a minimum of 2 hours’ structured CPD points. You will also be provided with a number of resources for you to gain further unstructured CPD points.
