What you'll learn

Robyn Dean’s PhD data investigates the ethical reasoning abilities of sign language interpreters in the US and has revealed some intriguing and perhaps unexpected results.

In this webinar Dean examines some principles of moral psychology including Kohlberg’s stages of moral development and guides us to further reading to bring our practice up-to-date. Dean also discusses the notion of role versus function and how the latter can inform our decision-making processes.

We were joined live by colleagues in the States and in this recording you can hear highlights of our transatlantic online chat and networking.

Webinar learning outcomes:

  • Identify the three types of ethics: normative, descriptive, and meta-ethics.
  • Describe the three tacit moral schemas as defined by scholars in the field of justice-reasoning.
  • Describe the components of post-conventional reasoning and the use of values-based decision making.

Join Robyn to hear more about her cutting edge research.
