Aurélia Nana Gassa Gonga

Wendy Ledeux first met Aurelia at EFSLI’s 2017 conference in Toulouse, France. Aurelia was volunteering for AFILS, the Association of French Sign Language Interpreters, who were hosting the conference. Wendy says “I was struck by Aurelia’s passion for interpreting, as well as her desire to see the international interpreting community come together to address current issues within the industry and support each other”.

Aurelia says:

“My name is Aurélia Nana Gassa Gonga and I am French. I moved to Nijmegen to be a PhD student within the VICI project looking at International Sign.

In France, I was working as a French Sign Language interpreter and I was part of a research project about deaf translation.”
