​​This webinar is aimed at interpreters-in-training and newly qualified. It will also be useful for experienced interpreters who want to review what consecutive interpreting is and how they could employ it more effectively in their practice.

This webinar serves as an introduction to consecutive interpreting and provides an opportunity for participants to explore some of the benefits, and the challenges, of adopting this strategy as part of managing of effective communication.

We will define consecutive interpreting and consider which scenarios are perhaps better suited for this approach and there will be an opportunity to understand the processes and skills we might need to interpret effectively including notetaking, managing the flow of communication and navigating meaningful segments.

We will also discuss how to manage the expectations of our clients and think about how we might explain our rationale for managing communication this way.
