What you'll learn

Do you make use of consecutive interpreting in your day-to-day work? Are you an experienced interpreter in need of a refresher on consecutive interpreting? Or are you a newly qualified, or interpreter in training seeking to improve your consecutive interpreting skills?

What will you learn?

  • What consecutive interpreting is, and what the process involves
  • How to decide whether to use consecutive instead of simultaneous interpreting.
  • How to manage the flow of communication
  • Making use of both short-term and long-term memory
  • Strategies to enhance your consecutive interpreting.

Dr Aldersson will discuss tools such as note-taking, segmenting and making use of semiotic resources to support your interpretation.

With a mixture of breakout rooms and taught content and an opportunity to have your questions answered about all things ‘consec’, it will be an informative 2 hour session.

Feedback on Russell's previous training: "Really enjoyed it and reminded me that all this 'extra' stuff is still part of our interpreting. This is useful for other domains too. Thank you Russ and Wendy! x"
